Indigenous Substance Misuse Counsellor 

Full-Time, Esperance

$49,252.96 - $57,827.92 per annum plus an entertainment allowance of $500.00 - $2,000.00 per annum, superannuation and salary packaging. 

We are seeking counsellor to provide a high quality assessment, counselling and referral service for indigenous clients and their families in accordance with Alcohol and Other Drugs Program requirements. 

Some of the key areas if responsibility will include but are not limited to:

  • Promote and implement Alcohol and other Drug initiatives, programs and services in consultation with the Program Manager, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Team.
  • Arrange referrals to agencies and services for clients who would be better served by such agencies and services.
  • Facilitate groups as required.
  • Participate in Clinical Supervision.
  • Perform special duties as directed by the Executive Manager, e.g. assist with community development and liaison, represent agency on public committees, give presentations to community groups etc.
  • A willingness to work across agency sites and travel within the Goldfields Region.

You will need to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • National Police Certificate
  • Possession of a Certificate 3 and/or 4 in Alcohol and Other Drug studies, or a Certificate 4 in Community Services.
  • Experience in counselling individuals, couples and families.
  • Well developed communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Highly developed clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Capacity to work within an Outreach model of service delivery.
