  Centrecare's Volunteer Program

Volunteers are united in a common goal with a shared desire to change the world they live in for a better place. They can take direct action to address a need or cause they feel strongly about.
Centrecare relies on the valuable support of volunteers who help us to change believe of people and consequently the social isolation in our community.
If you have some spare time and want to put your skills, energy and passion to work, check out the different ways you can volunteer within the service delivery of Centrecare.

Centrecare's Catholic Migrant Centre

Centrecare’s Catholic Migrant Services (CCMS) acknowledges and welcomes the important contribution made by volunteers to the work of the organisation.

Volunteers assisting migrants and humanitarian entrants have played a significant role in the settlement of our clients. Volunteers within our organisation represent everything that is worthwhile about the Australian sense of community and their work is effectively about building bridges between cultures.   For Centrecare, volunteers provides the opportunity to enhance and extend our current services and bring new energy and creativity to the programs.

The following opportunities to volunteer, gain experiences, participate and contribute to the community are available to people of all ages, backgrounds, interests and abilities.

Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy

Centrecare is looking for volunteers to support newly arrived refugees by providing basic life skills assistance and social support to help the family to become independent. You might introduce refugees to local ethnic or other community support organisations, and provide information, guidance and practical assistance to adjust to life in Australia  (living skills e.g. cooking, health/hygiene, public transport and shopping). All families are living south of the river.
Training, Working with Children Check and Police Clearance is provided and travel expenses are reimbursed. You must be able to commit to at least 6 month and will be expected to provide 3-4 hours of your time per week (including training). This program is highly stimulating and rewarding, and it gives you the opportunity to learn about other cultures. For more information please contact Ute on 92211727 or uschierhorn@cms.centrecare.com.au

Community Visitor Scheme

Centrecare operate a Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) program with the purpose of reducing the sense of isolation and loneliness experienced by migrant elderly residents living in aged care homes. We are always seeking committed volunteers who enjoy meeting new people to provide regular, one-to-one visits to socially isolated migrants in aged care facilities.  Our volunteers are normally linked with one resident and are asked to visit that resident at east once per fortnight. We are looking for interested volunteers from all sorts cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Training and Police Clearance is provided and travel expenses are reimbursed. If you are interested to get involved, please contact Marisa on 92211727 or mtarzia@cms.centrecare.com.au

Migration Advice Service

Centrecare needs the assistance of volunteers to help in our Migration Advice Service held at 25 Victoria Square, Perth.
Centrecare Catholic Migrant Service provides immigration advice and assistance to financially, culturally or linguistically disadvantaged people in the community. Most clients seek advice on the Refugee or Humanitarian Migration Program.
You will help our Registered Migration Agents in a number of support roles including administration assistance, researching legal matters and case law, and completing forms.
Before commencing your volunteer service you will be given training and support to enable you to provide the services we need.
This is an opportunity for you to gain work experience in an interesting and rewarding field of Immigration law. Centrecare would greatly appreciate any assistance you can give.
