Welcome to Anti-Poverty Week 2022
Let's Work Together to Halve Child Poverty by 2030. In 2022, APW22 will run from 16-22 October.
Anti-Poverty Week supports the Australian community to have an increased understanding of poverty and to take action collectively to end it. We are a diverse network of individuals and organisations who share this purpose. This year we are urging all Parliamentarians to commit to halve child poverty by 2030. This means we can meet our international commitments to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and UN Global Goals (Sustainable Development Goals).
Our Federal Parliamentarians need to pass legislation to halve child poverty by 2030 with measurable targets and actions to achieve this goal. To treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to ensure every family has what they need. A legislated plan to halve child poverty by 2030 would be a huge step to achieving this.
The WA Committee for APW22 is made up of the following organisations:
- Anglicare WA
- Centrecare Inc and Valuing Children Initiative
- Commissioner for Children and Young People
- Communicare; Foodbank WA
- Good Sammy
- Mission Australia
- PeopleKind Group
- Salvation Army
- St Vincent de Paul
- Uniting WA
Each year two Co-chairs are nominated. This year’s Co-chairs are:
Adj. Prof. Tony Pietropiccolo AM Director, Centrecare, Founder, Valuing Children Initiative
Kate O’Hara Chief Executive Officer, Foodbank
