A new smart phone app will make it easier for separated families to manage their child support payments.
Minister for Human Services Senator the Hon Marise Payne said the government is doing its best to make it easier for Australians to do their government business anywhere, at any time.
"Last year the Department of Human Services supported around 1.4 million separated parents to transfer around $3.5 billion for more than 1.2 million children," Minister Payne said.
"The latest Express Plus Child Support app allows parents to make and keep track of their child support payments, update their details and tell the department about important changes in their circumstances.
"Once registered for myGov, parents can easily download the new app to view their letters, update their contact and bank account details, pay their child support and check their child support payments collected and paid by the department.
"Parents can also inform the department of changes to their care arrangements and update income estimates they have made for their current assessment."
Minister Payne said separation is a challenging time for many people and having access to quality resources and support services early can make a big difference to how separated families interact over the long term.
"The new Express Plus Child Support app not only makes it easier for parents to stay in contact with the department but also has links to a range of support and referral services and publications for separated families like 1800RESPECT, MensLine Australia and the Family Relationship Advice Line," Minister Payne said.
Express Plus Child Support is free and currently available for Apple devices with iOS7+ installed. It will be available on Android soon.
The app is the latest in a suite of Express Plus apps available from the Department of Human Services and marks the availability of apps across all services - Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support.
