Sad loss of two long term employees

28 June 2018

Rita Munro 2nd Mar 1961 – 30th May 2018
Rita commenced with Centrecare in 2005 working in the Perth office and since that time worked across most of the Agency’s counselling services with individuals, couples and groups. She was passionate about her work, particularly her work with people who experienced problem gambling behaviours and always gave 110% to her clients and colleagues.

Rita had a wonderful sense of humour and zest for life something witnessed at the Centrecare Christmas parties, especially if Abba was playing. How she loved to dance!

She gained much support from colleagues throughout the agency during her cancer battle, which she greatly appreciated.

Rita’s willingness and commitment to providing a professional service to Centrecare’s clients continued right to the end working up to the beginning of May.

We would like to recognise the wonderful contribution that Rita made to Centrecare.

Rita will be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues.

Fr John Martin 19th April 1941 – 9th June 2018
Fr John Martin was a Redemptorist priest that provided counselling at Centrecare sporadically over a period of ten years from 1995. John embraced his daily work with his peers and it was during this time he developed his love for AFL footy tipping.

After a lengthy mission in the outback parishes, John returned to Centrecare until 2011 when he took up a call to help in the parish of Port Hedland providing spiritual as well as practical support to local people.

In the last 15 years of his life, John carried an illness which he knew would one day claim his life.

John maintained his contact with Centrecare colleagues through the footy tipping and would always call in to say hello to the staff at the Perth office when he was in town.

His positive, approachable nature and genuine care for others will be greatly missed and Centrecare is sad for his loss.
