Last week the Valuing Children Initiative issued a media release calling on party leaders to establish a Ministerial Portfolio for Children and Future Generations.
Today the Australian Child Rights Taskforce are launching their report CRC25 – Australian Childs Rights Progress Report echoing this call for a Minister for Children. We support this recommendation but we believe a Ministers responsibility should include Future Generations, to counter and reduce focus on the short term and the resulting bias against future generations that can occur simply because they are born tomorrow and not today.
