Australia's approach to asylum seekers

25 October 2013

This week the Australian Human Rights Commission released its report on Australia’s approach to asylum seekers.

The report shows a significant gap between Australia’s human rights obligations under international law and our current treatment of asylum seekers and refugees. The issue of Australia’s actions towards refugees is a very significant human rights issue and one that our community needs to take very seriously.

How our society treats asylum seekers reflects on all of us and we each have a responsibility to be as informed as possible on this issue.
