CHRIS UHLMANN: A Commonwealth and state agreement on funding for homeless services has finally been locked in, just a week before the old deal was due to expire.

It's a reprieve for those providing support for the homeless around the country, including in Western Australia, where some organisations say increasing numbers are seeking help.

For some, a run of bad luck has meant losing the roof over their heads.
