This has long been a feeling they have held and this important study now proves it. It is proof that domestic violence isn't seen as a serious crime. It is proof that it is overlooked and it is misunderstood. Violence towards a woman by an intimate partner or a member of their family has to taken equally as seriously as if the act was done by someone randomly on the street. And as we advocate to change decades of ignorance towards family violence we do so with a court system that is full of magistrates and judges who hold the same ignorant prejudices.
