New Centrecare Social Service Centre in Midland

Found in: News

Centrecare had been advised by Jan Stewart, the CEO of Lotterywest, that the Premier of Western Australian, the Hon. Colin Barnett has approved their recommendation for a grant of $5 million to be provided to Centrecare for the construction of its new Centrecare office in Midland. Ms Stewart wrote

“The Premier has asked me to pass on his very best wishes for your project. The team at Lotterywest congratulates you and wishes you every success”.

The Lotterywest grant is a substantial contribution to the construction of what will be an important addition to Centrecare’s office infrastructure but more importantly the provision of social services in Midland and the surrounding region. Centrecare is investing over $3 million of its own funds in the project.

The building will be located in a very prominent position in Yelverton Dr, Midland. It will be close to other services, shops, public transport and public carparks. The three story building will have its own underground carpark and will allow for future agency growth. The size of the building is such that it will be able to house a number of agency programs and also, initially, allow Centrecare to lease office space to other not for profit, social service providers in Midland.

Planning for this office began over six years ago when a decision was made to build in Midland and negotiations began for the purchase of block of land from the Midland Redevelopment Authority. Designing the building with SIA Architects began approximately twelve months ago.

Centrecare Director, Tony Pietropiccolo AM, said:

“This is an exciting development that confirms Centrecare’s commitment to the Midland and West Australian community. We are in Midland for the long term and we are showing this through the establishment of this modern social service centre. The centre will bring a number of Centrecare programs together and will provide a hub for future services. Centrecare is highly appreciative of Lotterywest's support in helping it to realise this significant initiative”.

The building of the Centrecare Social Service Centre will take place over the next twelve to eighteen months. All at Centrecare are looking forward to seeing it come to life.
