Residential Tenancies Legislation Amendment (Family Violence) Bill 2018 - WAFLPN Information Session

1 March 2019

On 15 February 2019, the WA Family Law Pathways Network organised a seminar with Consumer Protection's Senior Policy Officer Trish Blake.

The presentation outlines the family and domestic violence (FDV) related law changes to the Residential Tenancies Legislation Amendment (Family Violence) Bill 2018.

Key amendments to WA's residential tenancies and residential park laws include;

  • enabling renters affected by FDV to: - exit a tenancy with seven (7) days’ notice without going to court;
  • remove a perpetrator from a lease by applying to the courts;
  • and change locks or increase security without a landlord’s permission.
