Evelyn Tui (Executive Manager) had the pleasure of attending the 2025 Early Childhood Australia National Conference. This was the 37th Early Childhood National Conference with the main theme of the conference being

‘Universal not Uniform: Leading change, strengthening unity and honouring individuality’.

This year’s theme highlighted the national focus on early childhood education reform, aiming to ensure reforms are evidenced based and promote equitable access and outcomes for children and families at risk of poor development, learning or wellbeing outcomes.

Centrecare currently deliver two Child and Parent Centres based at Gosnells Primary and East Maddington Primary Schools in partnership with the Education WA.

Child and Parent Centres are located at schools to give families easy access to advice, programs, and services, and give schools the opportunity to work with families from the time children are born through to starting school and beyond. The centres assist children to be ready to start school, and to become happy, confident learners.

The centre coordinator makes sure services and programs needed by the community are available locally for families. Services and support may include:

  • maternal and child health services
  • speech and occupational therapy support
  • early learning programs and playgroups
  • early literacy/numeracy programs, including Rhyme Time and Aboriginal Story Time
  • school holiday programs
  • parenting and family support, including the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
  • transition to school programs
  • multicultural programs and services
  • parent support groups
  • referrals to other services
